Terms of Service

Terms of Service

This is a starting-point version pending review by a lawyer licensed in British Columbia. Some specifics (legal entity name, effective date, dispute venue) are still being finalized.

Operator: GreenSlot, British Columbia, Canada. Effective date: on publication.

1. What GreenSlot is

GreenSlot is an online marketplace that connects homeowners ("Homeowners") with independent lawn care providers ("Contractors") in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. GreenSlot is a platform only. We are not a party to the service agreement between a Homeowner and a Contractor, we do not perform lawn care services, and we do not employ Contractors. Contractors are independent businesses.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 19 years old and able to form a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.

3. For Contractors

Subscription. Contractors may post availability after starting a subscription. Subscriptions include a 30-day free trial, after which they renew at CAD $39.99/month until cancelled. You may cancel any time before the trial ends at no charge; after that, cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.

Independent business. You set your own prices, schedule, and service area. You are solely responsible for performing services, your conduct, taxes, licensing, and compliance with law.

Insurance. You confirm you carry valid Commercial General Liability (CGL) insurance and accept full liability for any damage or injury occurring during a job. GreenSlot may request proof at any time.

Payouts. Contractor payouts are processed through Stripe Connect. You must complete Stripe's onboarding to receive funds. Stripe's terms apply to payouts.

4. For Homeowners

Booking & fees. Booking a slot reserves a Contractor's time and is confirmed once payment clears. GreenSlot charges a CAD $3.99 management fee per booking. The job cost is set by the Contractor.

The service relationship is with the Contractor. GreenSlot does not guarantee the quality, safety, timing, or legality of any Contractor's services. Disputes about the work are between you and the Contractor, though we may help facilitate.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. By using GreenSlot you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. We do not store full card numbers.

6. Cancellations, no-shows & refunds

A Homeowner may cancel a booking from My Bookings before the job is marked complete. An eligible cancellation is refunded to the original payment method, including the management fee. Once a job is marked complete, it is no longer eligible for self-service cancellation. If a Contractor does not show, cancel the booking for a refund and contact support so we can follow up.

7. Prohibited conduct

No unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, or harmful activity; no circumventing the platform to avoid fees; no misrepresenting identity, insurance, or qualifications; no scraping or interfering with the service.

8. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, GreenSlot disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GreenSlot is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for the acts or omissions of Contractors or Homeowners. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the prior 3 months, or CAD $100.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify GreenSlot against claims arising from your use of the service, your services (Contractors), or your breach of these terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or create risk to others. You may stop using the service at any time.

12. Changes

We may update these terms; material changes will be communicated and take effect on the stated date.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
